Genotype Renovations™
Overview
Genotype Renovations® gives you the same flexible options of Phenotype Renovations with one key additional advantage: the power to persist your customized identity for future generations. For even the most resourceful clients, surrounded by a networking of loving and caring significant others, as the only Renovations client you may know, the world can seem like a lonely place. Through our pioneering process, we can bind your revised genetic code to your gametes, allowing your unique Renovations features to pass on to the next generation, with the traits and qualities you have selected inherited by your offspring.
Think of the possibility! Carve out a new space in the genetic history of the world, even the universe, by being the first to father a new species, born with an edge over the existing population. Through Genotype Renovations, the selection of your Phenotype adds a whole new dimension, as the same questions that come up during the Genetic Select™ evaluation now apply to your children: how much smarter, faster, handsome, or strong do you wish them to be? How much of an edge will you father into your bloodline, not only through metrics of the human race, but from the race you create for yourself!
The standard Phenotype Renovation process leaves your gametes unmodified, meaning, when you mate with another human, your offspring shall be human; the genetic material of your reproductive organs may have changed in appearance through the design and transformation process, but the cells responsible for reproduction have not. Through the Genotype Renovations design service, as a female, you can choose whether or not you wish to retain the ability to mate with and produce offspring with either a human male or Phenotype Renovations client, or to become a Genotype Renovations client and gain the exclusive ability to produce offspring with another Genotype Renovations client of the same Morphic Series subtype. Hybrids whether between Morphic Series subtypes or between clients and non-clients are not viable.
As a male, three options are available: (1) no change, which means human offspring are possible with human partners, (2) copywritten gamete modification, and (3) non-copywritten gamete modification. Copywritten gamete modification is an intermediate option that allows Morphic Series offspring to be conceived with a female Genotype Renovations partner, however, those offspring will either be infertile or have human gametes for human-only pairings, at your option. Non-copywritten gametes will perpetually pass on their characteristics, essentially introducing your Phenotype Renovations design as a new chapter in the biological record of time.
Options & pricing
Several other advanced morphology options are also exclusively afforded to Genotype Renovations clients, as listed below with the various gamete configurations:
- Until future client selection of these templates can be well estimated, we cannot project real-world population growth in the wild — and so we are not permitting non-copywritten versions of these templates at this time. ↩
- Pheromone glands are not available for non-copywritten Morphic Wolf males, for population control. ↩
- Knotting is not yet available on this template. ↩
- Os bones are not standard on this template, but may be added for an additional fee. ↩
The Next Generation
Twenty-one years since the first Genotype-conceived child took her first breath, our earliest client families are welcoming grown sons and daughters into universities, careers, and families of their own. They are not case studies. They are people — the first people, in the fullest sense — and their stories are the surest measure of the promise we made their parents. We publish their words, not their portraits: you will meet them in the ordinary places people meet, and when you do, they will introduce themselves on their own terms, not ours.
Anya, 19 — Morphic Vulpine, Copenhagen. “My parents chose Vulpine before I could choose anything. For a long time that was hard to think about. But when I look at photographs of them the year I was born, they look at each other the way I want to be looked at someday. I don’t feel invented. I feel expected.”
Kelechi, 21 — Morphic Otter (copywritten), Lagos. “I’ve decided my own children will be human. That option was written into me by design, and I appreciate my parents leaving me the room. I still swim every morning. I still love this body. The choice is mine to make, exactly as theirs was theirs.”
Bataar, 18 — Morphic Wolf (non-copywritten), Ulaanbaatar. “My father was one of the seven. When people ask what it’s like to be part of a species that didn’t exist a generation ago, I tell them it’s like being from anywhere else — you love the people you came from, and you carry them forward.”
First names and cities are used with each family’s permission. Photographs are theirs to share, or not.
The Founders’ Circle
Every heritable Furnetics lineage traces to a founding cohort — the first Genotype clients of each Morphic Series subtype, who accepted the responsibility and the honor of being first. For the Morphic Wolf non-copywritten line, that cohort numbered seven: three founding pairs and a solitary founder who joined the following year. Their portraits hang in the Founders’ Gallery at our Ulaanbaatar campus, alongside the family trees they have grown in the years since. Clients who complete a Genotype Renovation are invited, at their discretion, to add their own portrait — and, in time, the portraits of their children.
The Circle is more than a wall of photographs. Founders meet twice a year, at Furnetics’ expense, for a private weekend of counsel, kinship, and quiet celebration. Second-generation Founders’ children are welcomed from the age of sixteen, should they wish to attend. Attendance is never a condition of service, and the guest list is never published; the Circle exists for the people inside it, and for no one else. The Gallery, likewise, is not photographed for publication — not in these pages, not in the trade press, not anywhere; those who wish to be seen will be seen in the world, in their own time, by whomever they choose.
